Dr Louis McIntyre is on the Surgeon Advisory Board of Axya Medical in Beverly, MA, whose Board is comprised of several well known shoulder surgeons throughout the country including Dr James Andrews of Burmingham, AL. As a member of the Board, Dr McIntyre is actively involved with research involving the application of ultrasonic suture welding to treat shoulder injuries, and has presented the results of his research both in the United States and abroad.

Dr. McIntyre's research involves the arthroscopic treatment of rotator cuff problems. The results of using suture welding are very promising and represent an improvement from other methods of treating cuff tears.
