Abstract:
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is an emerging technology that will impact the practice of medicine in the coming years. There are several powerful trends that are making the transition to an electronic record favorable. The advantages and costs of an EMR must be considered prior to implementation. Implementation of an EMR presents a challenge; proper planning and preparation are necessary to ensure success of the system. The quality improvements associated with EMR will benefit patients and surgeons in the future.
