Michael Panio, MD
Board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons, Dr. Panio is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Educated at Cornell University as an undergraduate, he achieved his medical degree at Weill-Cornell Medical College where he also taught Anatomy for 15 years.
His internship and surgical residency were at The New York Hospital, and his Orthopedic Residency at The Hospital for Special Surgery. He was awarded the Lewis Clarke Wagner Award from The Hospital for Special Surgery for distinguished research in shoulder stability. Cited in over 96 orthopedic publications, this research is a cornerstone in the study of shoulder instability. He has published articles in the “Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery”, and is a consultant to minor league pitchers regarding technique and its relation to the throwing arm.
Dr. Panio has been in practice in White Plains since 1976. He was past Section Chief of Orthopedics at White Plains Hospital Center, and was Orthopedist-in- Charge at the Burke Rehabilitation Center. Besides his interest in joint replacement and shoulder difficulties, Dr. Panio is a competitive sculler and windsurfer.
Dr. Panio is one of only two physicians in Westchester County currently licensed by the FDA to perform the Oxford Meniscal Bearing Knee Replacement
